The Launch of 'An Awfully British Winter Cabin' at York & Albany

The Gordon Ramsay Group celebrates an awfully British Christmas with the launch of its 'Cabin-et of Curiosity Winter Pop-Up' at York & Albany.

Following the sell-out success of the Gingerbread Cabin last Christmas, townhouse restaurant and boutique hotel York & Albany returns with its ‘Cabin-et of Curiosity Winter Pop-Up’ this November, a playful experience that celebrates all things awfully British. Created in partnership with the Bacardi portfolio, this year sees the courtyard transformed into an inimitably eccentric British home. Situated on the edge of leafy Regent’s Park, guests are welcomed to sit back and relax whilst they enjoy a spot of afternoon tea, extraordinarily unusual British cocktails, lunch or dinner canapés, all whilst they revel in the best of traditional British cuisine in the privacy of their own ‘home’, served by their personal Butler.

Available for private hire for groups of up to ten guests, the dog-friendly cabin will be adorned with an old-fashioned telephone, chandelier, stag skulls and vintage books, as well as Union Jacks and cushions decorating the armchairs, sofas and poufs, creating the scene of an eccentric British lounge, celebrating all things wonderfully weird in British traditions. The mirrored drinks trolley will take centre stage as guests help themselves to festive spirits and aromatic mulled wine. To really get in the spirit, smoking jackets and slippers are provided on arrival.

Lunch and dinner sharing menus include haggis sausage rolls, venison pigs in blankets, gin-cured salmon vol au vents and stilton and red onion tartlets. For afternoon tea, guests will enjoy scones with clotted cream and seasonal jam, open sandwiches including roast turkey & cranberry sauce, smoked salmon & dill and duck egg mayo, alongside cranberry cheesecake, blackberry bakewell, mince pies and ‘awfully British’ cups of tea. For those looking to get creative, festive cookies will be available with icings and decorations encouraging guests to make their very own Christmas cookie designs. Plus a mini kids afternoon tea is available for the little ones.

Curated in partnership by the renowned Bacardi-Martini group, the drinks menu includes inventive serves including a heady Hot Buttered Rum, made with Bacardi 8 year old rum, served in a vintage soup vessel, dished out amongst friends to sip from tea cups. The Slim Santa is served in a balloon glass with Grey Goose vodka, fresh pomegranate and slim line lemonade. Dewar’s in Blankets is an old-fashioned style cocktail of 12 year Dewar’s infused with bacon, stirred with honey and garnished with a crispy strip of bacon. In addition, Mulled Wine with the added twist of Grey Goose La Poire vodka and Chambord will sit on the drinks trolley for guests to decant.

Keep warm with a heady hot buttered Bacardi 8 year old rum served in a vintage soup vessel to share, festive aromatic mulled wine with a hint of Grey Goose La Poire or a Dewar’s in Blankets, a whisky cocktail featuring 12 year Dewar’s infused with bacon – all whilst chatting and decorating Christmas cookies.

Join York & Albany for lunch or dinner festivities and snuggle in luxurious blankets while enjoying the likes of haggis sausage rolls, stilton and red onion tartlets, gin-cured salmon vol au vents, and chestnut and winter berry Eton mess. Menus start from £38 per person, including a wintery mulled wine and Slim Santa cocktail.
